In December 2009 I made a presentation to the Jefferson County Commissioners asking for funds from the Economic Development Dollars to have a webcam and weather station installed for Lake Billy Chinook.
I truly felt that this would be a help toJefferson County and the Madras/Metolius/Culver Areas where unemployment is running about 15%. Believe it or not -- there are still many many folks who do not know where Lake Billy Chinook is and what it has to offer.
I found the County Commissioners to be very responsive to this idea and the funds were awarded to purchase this equipment. Jefferson County is changing and growing (like it or not...) and we are trying to reach the Portland/Vancouver traffic that just goes straight to Bend/Prineville. This endeavor will not necessarily lead to a property sale in the Three Rivers Area. It does not mention Coldwell Banker/Dick Dodson Realty. We just feel that it is a team effort to help all of us.
BUT ... the Portland/Bend TV stations have started showing the webcam on weather broadcasts...so watch for it!!!
AND HOW FUN FOR EACH OF US TO CHECK THE WEATHER ON THE LAKE -- LIVE -- FROM SUN-UP TO SUN-DOWN. THE TIME LAPSE PHOTOS FOR THE PAST SIX DAYS LAST FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE (allow time for it to connect) AND WEATHER DETAIL FOR TEMPERATURE, WIND, BAROMETRIC PRESSURE, ETC. IS ALSO AVAILABLE.
